Phobia's Phobia are defined as intense anxiety disorders recognizable for their unreasonable fears of specfic activities, objects, or situations. According to one source they are quite common in society and generally do not pose a significant restriction or disruption of a person's life. However, every so often the fear can be so overpowering that it will affect lifestyles.

A person can develop a phobia following a traumatic event, or after seeing another individual experiencing an intensely upsetting episode.

The most important thing to remember is that Phobia's can be successfully treated.

There are more than 350 recognized phobias. The following list features several common phobia's  and a few of the more interesting or unusual phobia's.

Acrophobia- Fear of Heights.

Amaxophobia-Fear of riding in a car.
